Iraqi Salwan Momika, known for having burned several copies of the Koran in Sweden, will request asylum in neighboring Norway due to a deportation order that has been imposed on him since last year. “I crossed the border with Norway a while ago and I’m on my way to Oslo,” he told the Swedish newspaper Expressen in an interview published this Wednesday.
Momika, 37, lamented that “Sweden only accepts terrorists who are granted asylum and protection, while philosophers and thinkers are expelled.” Although he is not afraid of the numerous threats that come to him, he believes that he is going to be murdered this year.
Swedish authorities are investigating the Iraqi activist for incitement against ethnic groups in the Nordic country, and in October last year they stated that he would be deported to Iraq for having provided incorrect information in his application for a residence permit. She was refused renewal of his residence permit and was banned from entering Sweden for five years after his deportation.
The deportation is on hold until April 16 for security reasons, as Momika insists her life would be in danger in her native Iraq. «I’m going to a country that welcomes me and respects me. “Sweden does not respect me,” said the Iraqi, adding that he plans to respect Norwegian laws. With RT
