King Charles appeared in public again on Sunday. The British monarch arrived by car at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for the Easter service together with his wife Queen Camilla, according to images from British media. As expected, Charles’ daughter-in-law Princess Catherine and her husband Prince William are not there.

Charles seemed to be in good spirits as he arrived for Easter Mass. The monarch waved cheerfully to the waiting fans and the press cameras. Footage shows that someone from the audience shouted “Happy Easter” to Charles, which the king responded with a laugh. “And you too,” the king said back.
Charles, 75, has rarely appeared in public since January, when it was announced that he had cancer. He currently avoids large groups of people, but continues to work in the palace. According to British media, Charles and Camilla will sit “at some distance” from the other attendees during the church service to protect the king’s health.
According to the BBC, Charles’ presence is “an encouraging sign”. However, his arrival does not mean that this will be the start of a return to public appearances, but rather “a cautious first step”.
Last week, Catherine announced that she had also been diagnosed with cancer. She is currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy.
