Landslide in Afghanistan: At least 25 dead, 8 injured – World News

Authorities announced that at least 25 people died and 8 people were injured in the landslide. Officials stated that adverse weather conditions prevented rescue efforts and that helicopters could not land in the region and the snow blocked the roads.

Spokesperson of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Disaster Management, Janan Sayeq, said: He stated that approximately 15 to 20 houses were completely or partially destroyed in the incident that occurred at night. While the teams that managed to reach the village continued their work to save the survivors, Nuristan Information and Culture Director Cemullah Hashemi stated that modern equipment, vehicles and facilities were not available for the rescue operation. On the other hand, more than 50 people lost their lives in the avalanche that occurred in Nuristan in 2017.
