Looking future

Here, in Cesar, the field is not just land; It is tradition, it is the future and it is the hope of a better life for many families. But for this to be a reality, we need those who govern to put rural development at the heart of their municipal development plans. And it’s not just about saying it, but doing it with actions that really make a difference.

By law, there are several components that our leaders must take into account to promote this sustainable development: from the Municipal Rural Development Councils (CMDR), through the Municipal Agricultural Programs (PAM), to the Departmental Agricultural Extension Plans (PDEA). and the Comprehensive Plans for Agricultural, Rural and Land Development (PIDARET). These are all key tools that, if used well, can be game-changing for our field.

If these plans remain only on paper and are not executed with enthusiasm and efficiency, the consequences can be serious. At a social level, we could see how our rural communities continue to lag behind, without access to opportunities that can improve their quality of life and without providing us all with our food sovereignty.
Fiscally, an abandoned field means less income for the municipality and therefore, fewer resources to invest in the well-being of all. And legally, forgetting these commitments can lead to sanctions and legal problems that no one wants.
What do we need? May our local leaders put their heart and soul into the development of our field. That they not only include these components in their plans because the law obliges them, but because they understand that it is the best for their municipalities. Let them see the countryside as an investment in our future, not as a burden.

It is time for leaders to demonstrate their commitment to the countryside with concrete actions. Let them work hand in hand with rural communities, listening to their needs and supporting them so that together we can build a more prosperous and sustainable Cesar.

It is time to act, to invest, to take advantage and believe in the potential of our region and our people. For a better future for all, let us make the sustainable development of the agricultural and rural sector a reality. Let’s remember that coal runs out, it’s now or never!
