TRADE.

Since the stoppage of the railway, the number of tourists and therefore customers has decreased in the artisan plaza sector of the train, a space where small artisans offer their products and try to survive the low sales of products.

The absence of the train is felt by vendors in the artisan plaza in Riobamba.

María Guzmán, president of the Riobamba train artisan plaza, announced her business in one of the kiosks belonging to the artisan plaza. From bracelets, rings to figures with traditional clothing from the city of Riobamba and other cultures are exhibited in the showcases of Guzmán, who also made known the uncertainty and lack of railways in the sector so that his business and that of his colleagues can reactivate. According to her statements, with the stoppage of the train the place would have become a place abandoned by tourists. “We were talking a few days ago with a French tourist who was asking about purchasing tickets to board the train, with sadness I told her that it was inactive, that is why we miss the presence of the railway again, because this machine not only helps move the economy of the province, but also local tourism, it is for this reason that we ask the authorities to continue with the process of reactivating the train, we already had the first tests, but until now nothing more is known, the prefect must be aware that We need the reactivation of the train, not only us, but also society in general. We have to keep pushing and hopefully they will deliver for us this time,” said the artisan.
