Athletics track at the Sports Center! The hearts of thousands of Monagas athletes vibrated with joy, when a multidisciplinary team from the Government of Monagas started the reconditioning work of the 400 meters in length and the entire structure of the “Manuel Gómez” athletics track of the Maturín Sports Center.
This was confirmed by the governor Ernest Lunathis Monday, April 8, when inspecting the progress in the civil engineering work, together with the Secretary of Infrastructure, Guillermo Sánchez.
During the technical visit to the sports field, the authorities observed the removal with heavy machinery of the material from the track deteriorated by time, use and climatic factors, which has been founded for more than 42 years.
Likewise, the stands, recreation areas, bathrooms and other spaces adjacent to this area will be renovated.
“New winds are blowing for our young athletes, we are evolving positively in the optimization of sports spaces, we have more than 30 equipped fields throughout the state; In addition, we beautified the Monumental and Las Comunales stadiums, we recovered the façade, entrance and sand fields of the Sports Center and we committed to rebuilding this track.”Luna said.
In that sense, he highlighted that the work was started after the approval of President Nicolás Maduro, upon his arrival in the eastern entity on March 11 of this year.
The Governor said that this sports tartan was prioritized within the general project of the recovery of the Maturín Sports Center, which is why on December 21, 2023, during the inauguration of the façade, Plaza Generalísimo “Francisco de Miranda” and shell acoustics, reaffirmed this commitment to the people of Monaco.
It is important to note that among the most important sports events that can be carried out on this track are: sprint races, long distance and middle distance, route, field, hurdles, relays, pole vault and long jump.
