Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is receiving numerous negative reviews on Steamwith many users stating that the games within the collection are no more than the native resolution of 720psuch as Bluepoint Games’ remastered releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
This detail is in fact reiterated in numerous evaluations left by buyers on Steam, anything but positive, together with complaints about theabsence of any graphic optionsincluding an fps limiter, virtually unusable mouse and keyboard controls, no cloud saves for MGS2 and 3, and more.
Konami previously stated that the PC version of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 runs at 1080p. However, at this point it seems that this resolution was achieved simply through upscaling and moreover in an unconvincing way.
It is not surprising that at the moment Metal Gear Solid 3, the title of the collection with the highest number of user reviews, has an unenviable average positive ratings of 49% at the time of writing.
Konami is working on corrective patches
Konami has already listed a series of issues within the collection that it will fix in future patches, including bugs and translation errors.
However, the resolution on PC and the addition of graphics options other than the ability to switch from windowed to full screen mode were not mentioned, a sign that they are not part of the company’s plans, at least for the moment. The hope is that, pending possible interventions by the developers, the modders will come to the players’ rescue.
