As announced days ago, President Gustavo Petro spoke to the country and presented the results of the studies carried out by the Colombian Society of Engineers, an entity of which he highlighted its technical nature, its history of more than 120 years and his high-level team, regarding the construction of the Bogotá Metro and the most beneficial modality in terms of service and investment.
The head of state pointed out that as this analysis demonstrates, Bogotá must consider the possibility of advancing a mixed project, which integrates the progress that the work has made to date with an underground proposal starting at the Antonio Nariño station. This is the Mixed Metro, which in their opinion is more economical in the future, guarantees two more stations that the project would be elevated and would also save up to 70% of the capital’s travel time.
“What do we propose? Preserving the current trap that is being built from the workshop patio in Bosa, to the Antonio Nariño station, where it becomes underground. It is our proposal. To get to Carrera 13 and continue there to 72nd Street in the north of the city. The new mixed alternative would have two more stations,” said Petro, thereby the project would have 23.9 km in length and 18 stations.
