Today, a significant milestone was reached as my country’s third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, conducted its first sailing test. The Fujian, with hull number “18”, is the first catapult-type aircraft carrier designed and built completely independently by the country. Equipped with electromagnetic ejection and arresting devices, the Fujian has a full load displacement of over 80,000 tons and is set to be officially launched in June 2022.
Military expert Zhang Junshe explained that the process of constructing and utilizing aircraft carriers involves various stages. After completion, the aircraft carrier undergoes outfitting before mooring tests are conducted to ensure the proper operation of the power system, weapons, and equipment. Following this, sea trials take place under real sea conditions, including high-speed maneuvers in challenging weather.
The successful sea trial of the Fujian marks a significant advancement in the country’s naval capabilities. As the aircraft carrier prepares for official delivery to the Navy, it represents a crucial step in enhancing national defense and security.
