Neiva Police will deploy 1,600 uniformed personnel for security during Holy Week

Neiva, Palermo, Rivera and Aipe will have special security and accompaniment plans for residents, parishioners and tourists to prevent the commission of crimes.

With the aim of guaranteeing a calm, safe and family-friendly Holy Week, the Neiva Metropolitan Police has launched the “Comprehensive Family Holy Week Plan.”«, deploying more than 1,600 men and women, with 500 of them dedicated exclusively to activities related to tranquilityprotection and enjoy this special season.

Under the motto “Family Week”, the Metropolitan Police calls on citizens to take care of each other, respect the law and preserve the places they visit. The institutional commitment is to guarantee the life and safety of all citizens, promoting a healthy and peaceful coexistence during this time of reflection and family reunion.

During this week, citizen security in streets, neighborhoods, places of religious tradition and recreational areas such as rivers, spas and resorts will be a priority for the National Police. Special security and support plans will be implemented in cities such as Neiva, Palermo, Rivera and Aipe, with the aim of preventing the commission of crimes and guaranteeing the protection of inhabitants, parishioners and tourists.

A robust human and technological component will be present in 65 churches and religious temples, as well as in 24 tourist spots throughout the metropolitan area. In addition, efforts will be intensified to prevent vacation scams, especially online, and to combat crimes such as sextortion and cyberextortion.

Colonel Alexander Castillo Marín, Commander of the Neiva Metropolitan Police, calls on travelers and drivers to respect traffic rules and adopt responsible behaviors that protect their lives and those of other road actors. Likewise, he urges the community to maintain exemplary behavior, avoiding excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and purchasing products from recognized and trusted establishments.

In addition to citizen security, special measures have been implemented to protect the Wax Palm, declared a national tree, and to combat wildlife trafficking, especially those species that are most consumed during Holy Week.
