The Western Friuli Health Authority will have to initiate the procedure to identify a replacement for the general practitioner suspended because he has not been vaccinated. If no replacement is found, patients will be temporarily redistributed among other professionals in the area where they operate.
Following the meeting of the Board of the Medical Association, the repercussions for citizens are assessed. The body chaired by Guido Lucchini took note of the suspension of twelve doctors established with the assessment of the prevention department, with the consequent impossibility of operating in the public and private sectors. There are three dentists and nine doctors (including a pregnant doctor) who work in health facilities and one in general medicine. He is a hinterland professional with a maximum number of clients. This means that one thousand 500 citizens will have to change doctors, even if only temporarily.
The process now provides that the Order communicates the provision adopted on Friday to the individuals concerned, with a certified e-mail message. They will not be able to work and if they do they face judicial consequences since their registration in the register is suspended. The communication will also be sent to Asfo who will now have to find a solution for the general practitioner.
As a first step, we will try to identify a replacement who gives the availability to take the place of the suspended colleague until he is reinstated. Difficult road to follow, given the shortage of doctors and probably also the uncertainty of the situation. In the event that this solution is not feasible, we will proceed with a redistribution of patients among professionals in the same city or area. And in this case it will be necessary to see if the Company will have to temporarily increase the ceilings so that all patients are welcomed. A quick procedure that will start when the communication from the Medical Association is notified.
It is a new situation that the healthcare company is facing. But it may not be the only one. The positions examined by the Order on Friday apparently will not be the only ones as investigations are underway by the prevention department also for other doctors for which, once the non-compliance with the obligation has been certified, the suspension will be triggered. –
