Overseas Chinese in Jiangmen Engage in Two Sessions Discussions
During the National Two Sessions, overseas Chinese in Jiangmen were actively engaged in discussions related to the opening ceremony and various agendas of the meetings. Through various forms, they listened to and watched the proceedings and news reports, combining their personal experiences abroad with discussions on hot topics during the sessions.
Nan Gengxu, honorary chairman of the Jiangmen Overseas Chinese Federation, and executive chairman of the Botswana-China Friendship Association, expressed deep inspiration and motivation by the government work report’s ambitious plans for technological innovation and international cooperation. He emphasized the role of overseas Chinese in promoting exchanges between China and foreign countries.
Ou Zhongxian, a founding president of the Kaiping Association of Peru, highlighted the important discussion on left-behind children in the overseas Chinese community and empty-nesters in urban and rural areas. He underscored the significance of the Party Central Committee and the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in addressing these issues.
Chen Zhanming, vice president of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China in San Francisco, USA, praised China’s economic and social development achievements and welcomed the focus on improving convenience for foreigners to work, study, and travel in China.
Deng Wensheng, former chairman of the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Federation of the United States, emphasized the importance of telling China’s development story to overseas Chinese and uniting them to contribute to Sino-foreign exchanges.
Dr. Kuang Jinrong, chairman of the Thai-Chinese Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Federation, highlighted the Two Sessions as a window for the world to understand China’s development and reiterated the commitment to promoting economic cooperation between Thailand and China.
Mai Qunyu, president of the Belize Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, welcomed the government’s focus on strengthening overseas Chinese affairs and protecting the rights and interests of overseas Chinese. She expressed hope for further national-level legislation to support the overseas Chinese community.
