The president of Colombiano has issued an order for a “total offensive” against the dissidents known as the Central General Staff (EMC) following reports of desecration of the bodies of four soldiers who died in combat in the department of Cauca. The members of the EMC are accused of violating the bodies of soldiers and violating International Humanitarian Law.

Petro’s instruction came after it was revealed that, after clashes in the rural area of ​​Algeria, in western Cauca, members of the EMC desecrated the bodies of the deceased soldiers. The president declared from his official account on the social network

The Ministry of Defense denounced the act as a flagrant violation of IHL and noted that the subversives tried to hide the bodies of the fallen soldiers to facilitate their offensive withdrawal. However, they were discovered and stripped of their military equipment by order of the insurgent leader, alias “Dumar.”

The remains of the soldiers have been recovered and transferred to Popayán for delivery to the relatives and the corresponding funeral honors. Decisive military action is expected to confront this FARC dissident, which continues to represent a threat to stability and security in the region.
