Plume of smoke above Brussels: fire broke out in the former Munt Center on Anspachlaan (Brussels)

by admin

Brussel –

A fire broke out in the former Munt Center on Anspachlaan in Brussels on Tuesday morning. The Brussels fire brigade is on site. A large plume of smoke can be seen over much of the capital. Renovation work is underway in the building. There are no injuries and the fire is now under control.

“It concerns a fire in the old administrative center of Brussels,” fire spokesman Walter Derieuw said. “An old ventilation group has caught fire. The firefighting works are in progress. We are trying to prevent the spread to the roof. A 64-meter ladder is used for this. Both workers and crane operator are safe.” The fire was under control around 11:30 am.

The former administrative center of the city of Brussels must be transformed into the multifunctional OXY by 2026-2027. The starting signal for the renovation works was given at the beginning of February. Offices, catering establishments, hotels, homes and apartments are provided for Brussels residents. (dbg)
