President Yoon Seok-yeol met with former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the twenty third to debate the scenario on the Korean Peninsula.
According to the Office of the President and Yonhap News Agency, President Yoon spoke about Secretary Pompeo’s efforts since his days as a member of the House of Representatives to advertise Korea-US relations, Korea-US-Japan cooperation, and denuclearization of North Korea.
President Yoon then emphasised that he’ll contribute to the promotion of peace and prosperity not solely on the Korean Peninsula but in addition all over the world via the robust ROK-US alliance and cooperation between Korea, the US and Japan, and requested that former Secretary Pompeo proceed his curiosity and function. .
Former Secretary Pompeo mentioned he feels the ROK-US alliance is getting stronger underneath the management of President Yoon, who shares international values with the United States.
He added that he’s assured that the ROK-US alliance will proceed to develop whatever the home scenario of the US, and he expects nearer cooperation between the ROK-US and Korea-US-Japan, particularly on North Korea points.
Meanwhile, former Secretary Pompeo was accountable for North Korea’s negotiations with the US throughout the administration of former President Donald Trump, who was a Republican presidential candidate.
