[빌뉴스=뉴시스] Reporter Yang So-ri = President Yoon Seok-yeol said to Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, who requested ‘cooperation with semiconductor companies’ on the 11th (local time), “We will support smooth cooperation between the companies of the two countries.”

On the occasion of attending the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, President Yoon had an informal summit meeting with Prime Minister Costa at LITEXPO in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Prime Minister Costa said, “I am grateful for the hospitality of the Korean side during my visit to Korea last April.”

In particular, Prime Minister Costa said, “Portugal hopes to work closely with Korean semiconductor companies to join the value chain of the global supply chain.”

In response, President Yoon responded by saying, “I will support smooth cooperation between the companies of the two countries,” and “I hope that substantive cooperation will be strengthened in various fields, including digital, development cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.”

President Yoon also said, “The international community needs a united response to North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile threats.” Prime Minister Costa replied that he supported the South Korean government’s North Korea policy.

The two leaders confirmed the international community’s solidarity on the war in Ukraine. They also agreed that it is important to continue cooperation for the speedy restoration of peace and daily life in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, President Yoon asked for support from the Portuguese government to host the Busan 2030 World Expo (EXPO) and explained the vision of the Busan Expo.
