Prioritization of resources to improve road connectivity between Risaralda and Valle del Cauca

In a meeting held in the city of Cali, the eighth steering committee of the Vías del Samán program was held, in which the presence of important political figures and regional leaders stood out. With the participation of the governor of Risaralda, Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa, the governor of Valle del Cauca, Dilian Francisca Toro, as well as representatives of Invías and Findeter, resources for a total of $28,000 million were prioritized for the execution of road projects that will enhance connectivity and road safety in strategic corridors that link both departments.

Of this significant investment, $10,000 million will be allocated to the construction of the La Esperanza – Ukumarí pedestrian bridge, in Risaralda, and the Los Almendros roundabout intersection in the municipality of Cartago, in Valle del Cauca. The remaining $18,000 million will be allocated to ambulance, tow truck and car-workshop services between Pereira and La Victoria, in addition to the Cerritos – La Virginia and La Romelia – El Pollo corridors.

“In this steering committee we have made crucial decisions for the advancement of the Vías del Samán program, prioritizing resources for the execution of works that will benefit our community,” said the deputy director of Comprehensive Management of National Highways of the Invías, Álvaro Ruíz Morales.

For his part, the Transport and Mobility manager of Findeter, Fabio Manjarrés Pinzón, highlighted the entity’s continuous commitment to the execution of projects that transform the regions and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.

During the meeting, significant progress was presented in the ongoing works, including the intervention to repair the deteriorated slab and joints of the Simón Bolívar bridge, as well as the rehabilitation of the Obando – Zaragoza corridor. Also highlighted was the intervention on the La Mina bridge in the La Romelia – El Pollo corridor in Risaralda, as well as the validation of environmental permits for projects such as the Galicia intersection.

In addition, information was provided on the process of obtaining permits for the occupation of riverbeds and the delimitation of withdrawal zones, with the hope of obtaining a prompt response from the environmental authorities.

This meeting reflects the joint commitment of regional and national authorities to improving road infrastructure, which will contribute significantly to the socioeconomic development of Risaralda and Valle del Cauca, as well as to the safety and comfort of those who travel through these important corridors.
