The Pereira Treasury Secretariat has announced an extension in the deadline for the payment of discounted property tax. City residents will now have until May 31, 2024 to take advantage of the discounts offered in this annual contribution. This decision is made in response to multiple requests from taxpayers and trade associations, materializing through Decree 000862, issued on April 30, 2024. The municipal administration thus seeks to make it easier for Pereira residents to manage their tax obligations in an economic context. which requires flexibility and support.
Tax benefit details
The discount offered consists of 10% for those taxpayers who pay the entire tax corresponding to the current year, and an additional 5% for those who have complied with the payment for the previous year before May 31, 2023. However, it is It is important to mention that this additional 5% does not apply to new properties or those that are integrated into the cadastral base by updating, as well as to taxpayers who pay this tax for the first time.
Jorge Alexis Mejía Bermúdez, Secretary of the Treasury of Pereira, highlighted the importance of this measure: “It is great news for all Pereira residents, since by decree we have extended until May 31 the date for the payment of discounted property tax. This measure is crucial for those who, due to various circumstances, have not been able to make their payments, and also to recognize those who did do so on time.”
Extended expiration calendar
With the extension, the calendar for the payment of the Unified Property Tax is as follows:
January March: Expiration on May 31, 2024.
April June: Expiration June 30, 2024.
July September: Expiration on September 30, 2024.
October December: Expiration on December 31, 2024.
