Salazar was summoned to address various topics, including the progress of the investigation into the León de Troya case, related to alleged drug trafficking. She was also questioned about the coordination between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Financial Analysis Unit of Ecuador (UAFE), as well as the principles of confidentiality and confidentiality in the entity’s investigations.

The prosecutor arrived at the José Mejía Lequerica Hall under a strong security operation. At the beginning of her intervention, Salazar indicated that she was being summoned to address technical aspects although the discussion was focused on political issues. Regarding the León de Troya case, the Prosecutor indicated that the investigation began without people with court immunity, finding out about it when it had already been closed and disseminated by a media outlet, violating confidentiality. In addition, she explained that this case was linked to the so-called Encuentro case, which will have a preparatory trial hearing to issue a ruling between May 16 and 17, 2024.

Regarding the request for the extradition of Hernán Luque Lecaro from Argentina, Salazar stated that the procedure is exclusively in the hands of the National Court of Justice (CNJ) and does not correspond to the Prosecutor’s Office. She assured that she herself is interested in Luque Lecaro returning to the country, since the crime of organized crime, which he is accused of in the Encuentro case, cannot be tried in her absence.
