Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui on the evening of the 16th (local time).
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Foreign Minister Choi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will report directly to President Putin on the results of the meeting between the two countries’ foreign ministers this evening.
According to Sputnik News Agency, Foreign Minister Choi and Minister Lavrov met in the afternoon at the reception house of the Moscow Ministry of Foreign Affairs on topics such as cooperation between the two countries and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Spokesperson Peskov said, “Minister Lavrov and Foreign Minister Choi will inform the President of the results of the meeting and how the agreements reached at the summit held in the Russian Far East last year are progressing.”
It is also expected that President Putin’s schedule for his visit to North Korea will be adjusted during today’s meeting. Spokesperson Peskov said in a briefing the previous day that he hopes President Putin will be able to visit North Korea soon and that the specific schedule will be determined through diplomatic channels.
Foreign Minister Choi arrived in Moscow on the 14th at the invitation of Minister Lavrov and will be on an official visit to Russia for three days from the 15th to the 17th.
