National government officials repeat that Quibdó and Chocó are their “priority”, but the statistics contradict them. According to DANE data, there is no change in the labor market and employment issue. On the contrary, the situation is getting worse. At the national level, the unemployment figure was higher than in the same month of 2023. It went from 11.4% to 11.7%.

In the case of women, the statistics remain frozen in the past. While male unemployment in the December-February quarter was 9.4%, female unemployment was 14.2%, that is, the famous gap between men and women continues.

Unemployment rates worsened in Quibdó during the last quarter. In the table of 23 main cities in Colombia, for the quarter December 2023 to February 2024, Quibdó continues at the bottom of unemployment in Colombia, with 28.4%, and with more unemployed young people in Colombia, with 37.7% .
