The Secretary of Government of Pereira, Jorge Mario Trejos led a press conference at the Ciudad Victoria Civic Plaza, where he presented a set of initiatives aimed at strengthening security in the city and providing protection to its citizens and visitors.

During the conference, the secretary emphasized his administration’s commitment to combating crime in all its forms. “Here there will be no space or place for anyone who comes to commit a crime,” he declared, highlighting security as the flagship project of his management.

Among the measures announced, the intelligence and investigation processes in collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office stand out to reduce car and motorcycle thefts, as well as the creation of a strategic command center that will use cutting-edge technology for crime prevention. This center will be focused on reacting proactively before crimes occur, covering the entire city and specific sectors identified as vulnerable.

Likewise, information was provided on ongoing studies in the area of ​​9th and 12th to develop an architectural design that contributes to the recovery of problematic spaces. Salazar stressed the importance of improving the urban environment to focus on addressing other criminal phenomena.

In preparation for the upcoming Holy Week, where a significant influx of tourists is expected, the mayor expressed a commitment to creating a safe environment that ensures a positive experience for visitors.

For their part, the police authorities present at the press conference reported on successful operations, such as the recovery of items stolen from a cyclist and the capture of an individual with a history of theft. In addition, the collaboration with the traffic section stood out, which resulted in the capture of an individual with a considerable amount of marijuana and the recovery of a motorcycle reported stolen.

In an effort to address the illegal market for motorcycle parts, the implementation of a marking system was announced to facilitate the identification and recovery of these parts in the event of theft.
