Sassari, the Aou suspends six no-vax operators from work

by admin

For privacy, the names and number of unvaccinated people in the wards are not known. Further verifications by the ATS are in progress: new measures could arrive

SASSARI. At the moment, 6 health workers from the Aou di Sassari are suspended from work because they have not been vaccinated. But it is not certain that the number will now increase, because the Region continues to send the suspension proceedings until December 31, of those employees who have not undergone the vaccination obligation. In addition, the University Hospital of Sassari applies the provisions of decree law number 44 of 1 April 2021 (Urgent measures for the containment of the COVID-19 epidemic, regarding anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations), converted into law number 76 of May 28, 2021. The regulatory provisions oblige health professionals to undergo free vaccination against Covid. Vaccination therefore represents “an essential requirement for the exercise of the profession and for the performance of the work performed by the obliged subjects”.

The communication of the suspension of the Aou to its employees represents the final part of the administrative process initiated by Ats Sardegna to identify non-vaccinated subjects. However, there is a basic problem within the departments: the person in charge does not know whether or not there are no vax doctors or nurses within his team. Primaries complain about this paradox, but apparently there is no solution: “The employer and the facility managers – says the head of health surveillance of the Aou in Sassari, Antonello Serra – can neither know the number nor the names of the unvaccinated subjects, up to the arrival of the notification of employee suspension from work. In this regard, there is a ruling by the Privacy Guarantor which prohibits this communication and binds the competent doctor to secrecy. It is also true that now several health workers who had “delayed” in getting vaccinated, once the suspension legislation came into force, immediately resorted to the vaccine ».

“The Company, however, continues the health surveillance of employees with the latest generation molecular and antigenic swabs – continues Serra – both because a vaccinated subject, while protected from the serious forms of the Covid disease could still become infected, and because there is a small number of exempted operators from vaccination for health reasons. In these cases, the swab is a must and is done in our facilities ». Since the green pass has been in effect, no employee can access the job if they do not have the green certificate. This is checked every day, at the time of the first access to the workplace and every time, during the day, you pass through the entrance gates to the hospitals.

«In addition – continues Serra – during the day further checks on the green pass can be made by the employer and by his delegates (facility directors or sub-delegates). “Of course – concludes Serra – the green pass does not exclude the obligation to vaccinate health workers. This is why the Region is continuing with the sending of suspension proceedings to the Company and to the competent professional associations ».
