At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a guarantee control judge sent a man to prison who had caused the death of his former partner in Saravena.
The events occurred on March 18 when the authorities carried out a technical inspection of the body of the 28-year-old victim. At the scene, investigators found poison that initially indicated a possible suicide.
The evidentiary material collected by researchers from the Technical Research Corps (CTI) and the Sijín, in addition to the results obtained after the autopsy carried out by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, the woman died due to lack of oxygen due to obstruction of the mouth and nose. In addition, defensive injuries were found on the victim’s body.
Judicial police work showed that the man had arrived from the city of Cúcuta two days before the events; it is presumed that he entered the property where the violent act took place. Later, he returned to the city of Cúcuta, pretending to the family that he did not know anything about the incident.
Statements from witnesses and analysis of telephone lines showed that the defendant had been at the victim’s house on the day of the events.
The defendant was captured in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander) on April 29. These actions were carried out by CTI servants from the Arauca Section and uniformed officers from the Sijín and the Dijín. Due to these events, a prosecutor charged the defendant with the crime of aggravated femicide, a charge that he did not accept.
