Kingussie –

Striking search in Scotland. There they are not looking for a missing person, but for… a missing monkey. A Japanese macaque has been wandering there since Sunday morning. In the meantime, the animal has been spotted near the zoo from which it escaped, but has not yet been caught.

The Japanese macaque escaped from the Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie, Scotland on Sunday morning. The animal probably fled from its enclosure to avoid a fight with a rival. In the meantime, drones are being used to comb the entire area.

Forbidden to feed

In the meantime, several reports have already been received by local media from people who have seen the monkey. The animal is often looking for food. That is why the zoo calls for all food left outside, such as waste bins and bird feeders, to be removed. “We hope the monkey will eventually return to the zoo when he gets hungry,” said Keith Gilchrist, animal collection manager at The Scottish Sun.

People are also calling for the zoo to be contacted if anyone finds the monkey. People ask not to approach the monkey, although this species is usually not dangerous to humans. The animals are over half a meter in size and can weigh up to eleven kilograms.
