In Haiti, the population is suffering from a critical outbreak of violence, as Haitian leaders have increasingly relied on street gangs, coupled with poverty, the legacy of colonialism, widespread deforestation, and European and American interference.
As highlighted in an article in the international media, The Associated Press: “The interventions of the United Nations and the United States have come and gone. Without a tradition of clean political institutions, Haitian leaders have used armed civilians as tools to exercise power.”

Haiti has not had a strong, well-funded standing army or national police force for decades. Today, the state has been weakened to the extreme and gangs are taking its place.
Given this, the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, shared: “We can fix it. But we will need a UN Security Council resolution, the consent of the host country and all the expenses of the mission to cover.”
El Salvador, thanks to the vision of President Bukele, went from being one of the most dangerous countries in the world to being the safest. The excellent results of the Territorial Control Plan now allow the population to live in peace and security.
Likewise, Pope Francis urged “renewed support from the international community” to achieve “peace and reconciliation” in Haiti.
