The fire brigade, rescue and police were on duty in the Linz-Land district early on Wednesday afternoon: There was a serious traffic accident on the B309 between Kronstorf and Hargelsberg. According to the police, a 73-year-old car driver from the Linz-Land district first hit an oncoming truck around 1 p.m. and then lost control of his car.

The car skidded and collided almost head-on with a car behind, driven by a 53-year-old from the Steyr-Land district. The impact was so violent that the 53-year-old’s car left the road and was thrown onto an embankment, where it came to a stop with serious damage.

The Hargelsberg and Kronstorf fire departments responded under the keyword “rescue people in a traffic accident”. According to the police report, the 73-year-old had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters. The pensioner sustained such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum Steyr after receiving first aid from the emergency doctor. The 53-year-old and his 18-year-old passenger were also injured. The rescue took her to the UKH in Linz.
