Shenzhou 17 Return Capsule Makes Successful Landing in Gobi Desert
On April 30th, the return capsule of the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft landed at the Dongfeng Landing Field in Ejina Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The astronauts, Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie, and Jiang Xinlin, safely returned to Earth following a successful mission in space.
The landing site was greeted by a happy rain a few days prior, bringing much-needed moisture to the Gobi Desert. As the capsule made its descent, onlookers pointed to the sky as the red and white main umbrella unfolded, signaling the return of the spacecraft.
Upon landing, the search and rescue team quickly sprang into action, ensuring the astronauts were healthy and safe. The astronauts exited the capsule to warm applause and cheers from the crowd, including herdsman Wei Qilegeqi, who has witnessed five successful landings on his ranch.
“I am proud that the return capsule landed on my family’s ranch; my motherland’s aerospace industry is getting stronger and stronger, and I am even more proud,” said Wei Qilegeqi.
The successful landing of the Shenzhou 17 return capsule marks another milestone in China’s space exploration efforts, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in space technology. The event was met with excitement and pride from all those involved, as China continues to make strides in its space program.
