Siniscola, vandals in action: the entrance to Berchida demolished

Targeted at the wall under construction on 125. Mayor Farris’ anger

SINISCOLA. New act of vandalism against a public work: after the destruction of the signs in the path of Monte Idda and other thugs in the city and in the hamlet of La Caletta, the wreckers went into action a few nights ago at the entrance to the track for Berchida where the In recent months, the municipal administration has started the construction of the new access from the state road 125. Probably using a bulldozer or a tractor, someone has destroyed a large part of the wall that will delimit the first section of the road to the sea. A part of the new construction was even undermined from the foundations while part of the block masonry was demolished. An inexplicable act and an end in itself, which nobody knows how to explain and which once again tarnishes the good name of the people of Siniscola.

The episode left the administrators stunned by now tired of reporting to the police the countless thuggish acts to the detriment of public goods. “We often ask ourselves why Siniscola does not grow from a cultural point of view and all the necessary interventions are not carried out to improve the decorum of our town – says the mayor Gian Luigi Farris -. The answers are different but one in particular is given to us by the umpteenth complaint that was made for the damage to an important work that is being carried out at the entrance to the Berchida beach capable of guaranteeing greater safety and decorum to the area. This attack – explains Farris – comes after a long series of signs of incivility to the detriment of the Monteidda route, the Capo Comino lighthouse facilities, the La Caletta and Siniscola playgrounds, the Don Migliorisi square, the preschool of via Vivaldi, of the walkway on the beach of La Caletta, of the damaged railings in La Caletta in the headquarters of the library and of the Civic school, of the signs stolen in the street of Lupareddu near the high school, of the waste abandoned everywhere in the town. This latest attack represents yet another attempt to destroy our country. There are people who continue to act undisturbed and remain unpunished while they tear the territory to pieces, offering a negative image of our city; furthermore, the costs for the reconstruction weigh on all citizens and divert precious resources that could be used for other useful and necessary interventions for the community without considering the time taken by the companies and municipal workers to carry out the works. We want a destroyed and dirty country – concludes Farris -, it is not respectful for all those people who work every day and strive to have a better country and future. The municipal administration will proceed with the complaints and will turn to the Prefect to obtain collaboration and put an end to this havoc. The city is littered with cameras, we expect those who commit such acts to be punished and paid and without discounts for the damage perpetrated to an entire community ».
