A representative of the Academia Vallenata sports club, located in the Villa Dariana neighborhood, in Valledupar, made a public complaint notifying that, due to the lack of support from the municipality’s sports entities, they will not be able to hold the national tournament for schools and clubs. “This year 2024, with great sadness, we will not hold the 20th edition, due to sponsorship reasons, and other problems beyond our control. The problem is that for some sports projects in “football” they do have support from the municipal sports institutes and other entities,” said Juan Carlos Jimenez Rivera, president of the Vallenata Academy Club.

According to Jiménez, the sporting event had been held consecutively for the last 19 years. “For more than 19 years, the tournament has energized and reactivated the economy of the municipality of Valledupar, on the date of the accordion festival, since participation in our sporting event is massive with local and visiting clubs, and of course the visit of the parent visiting clubs”, the representative added
The sports club hopes that next year they can count on the support of the municipal Mayor’s Office to continue promoting sports in the city’s communities. “We hope to have support in this great sports project, this year or next year 2025, to be able to develop the 20th edition of minor football,” Jiménez Rivera said.
