State Grid Changsha Power Supply Company’s “Thousands of People Watching the Ice Campaign” Ensures Stable Operation of Power Grid

Huasheng Online all-media reporters Wang Han and Correspondent Liu Minxue Zeng Ge reported on the efforts of the State Grid Changsha Power Supply Company to ensure the stable operation of the power grid during challenging weather conditions.

On February 22, a commando team of party members from the Hehua Power Supply Station braved freezing temperatures and strong winds to patrol the power lines on top of Daowu Mountain. With temperatures dropping below freezing and the threat of ice accumulation on the power lines, the team was tasked with inspecting and monitoring the conditions to prevent any potential power outages.

State Grid Changsha Power Supply Company had set up ice observation posts in high mountain areas prone to icing, such as Jiaoxi Ridge, Dawei Mountain, and Daowu Mountain. The commando team diligently patrolled the icy and slippery route, inspecting trees and bamboo for any potential dangers posed by freezing and lodging. They also measured, photographed, and recorded the icing conditions on the lines in preparation for ice melting and de-icing.

In addition to on-site inspections, the company utilized drones for intelligent patrol and implemented simulated ice observation and unmanned inspections to optimize surveillance of power equipment in real time. As a result, as of February 23, there were 17 ice-covered lines on the main network of the Changsha Power Grid, with 5 line ice melting operations already completed. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the power grid was operating smoothly with no power outages caused by ice-covered lines.
