A burning battery in an apartment building in Stuttgart triggered a fire department operation on Thursday. A fire department respiratory protection team can extinguish the fire.

A burning battery triggered a fire brigade operation in an apartment building on Richard-Schmid-Strasse in Stuttgart on Thursday. According to the fire department, a resident of the house alerted the emergency services at around 7:45 p.m.

Before the fire brigade arrived, the residents had already started extinguishing the fire. When emergency services arrived, smoke was coming from the basement. A respiratory protection team was able to quickly extinguish the burning battery in the basement. Additional respiratory protection teams checked the building for people.

One person was examined by emergency services but did not require further treatment.

The fire department ventilated the building using a mechanical ventilation device. Fire department measurement specialists carried out air measurements in the building. The scene was handed over to the police around 9 p.m.
