“She said that she was temporarily released (similar to living on parole) and they can take her back at any time. She wants me to cancel the publication.” Shen Dong said.

He said that this was also the first phone call between the child and his ex-wife in four years, which also let them know that she was actually alive.

“In the past four years, no one has said a word, and the (CCP) government has never admitted that they took her away, and they did not even accuse her (criminal). I asked her, what is the crime? She said , Needs to be kept secret, and cannot reveal what her crimes are.” Shen Dong said.

Shen Dong also introduced that his ex-wife told him that the government was very tolerant of her.

“I believe that she is still detained in the country. She has not (gained) real freedom. She talked to me because of them. I think I am basically negotiating with a (by) kidnapper.” Shen Dong said .

He is worried that his ex-wife will be detained by the CCP authorities again.

It is reported that Duan’s parents did not learn any information about their daughter from the authorities.

“Obviously, if we look at the development in the past 24 hours, I can understand why.” Shen Dong said.

Refusing to cancel the publication of the new book, ex-wife makes threatening calls again

Shen Dong said that their request to cancel the publication is impossible, and he has no plans in this regard. The book will be available on Tuesday (7th).

“I mean, I know (it’s impossible to cancel the publication), but the bureaucrats in Beijing don’t know, (they think) I can pull it back at the last minute with just a finger. Then she called me again. The second call.” Shen Dong said.

Shen Dong said that the second phone call from his ex-wife was more threatening.

The ex-wife asked him in the second phone call, “If you have misfortune, what will happen to our son.” “If something happens to our son, how will you feel.”

Shen Dong said that what the ex-wife said was a code word, meaning that if he opposed it, there would be no good results.

“She may be detained at home. Someone is listening to our phone and telling her what to say.” Shen Dong said.

“She warned me, be calm and don’t publish this book, it will bring more harm. Defamation of the country will not work.” Shen Dong said. “I just said, no, I’m very calm. I have invested several years in this book… I decided to publish this book because the world needs to know more about what China is like and how it works.”

When asked whether he thought it was the best way to continue speaking up for the safety of his ex-wife, Shen said: “I think this is definitely the best way, because after the news came out, she spent four years Reappears later (for the first time).”

Shen revealed in an interview with the Financial Times that he initially hoped to write a memoir as a “gift” for his son, but did not intend to publish it.

The decision to publish the memoir is now to put pressure on the party to confirm Duan Weihong’s whereabouts and to expose a regime that he believes is taking China in the wrong direction and posing a danger to the world.

Duan Weihong-the woman who traded with the red family

The Financial Times reported that over the years, Duan Weihong and Shen Dong have used their relationships with the most powerful red families and officials of the CCP to obtain lucrative real estate and logistics projects, as well as equity investments in large state-owned enterprises.

Duan and Shen’s main contacts include Zhang Peili, wife of former Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, and Sun Zhengcai, secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, who was arrested in 2017.

It is reported that Duan Weihong disappeared on September 5, 2017, six weeks after Sun Zhengcai was detained on suspicion of corruption. The three employees who disappeared at the same time as her were released in 2020.

Duan and Shen divorced in 2015. In the same year, Shen left China.

“Financial Times” said that the center of “Red Roulette” is the relationship between Shen Dong and Duan Weihong and the former Chinese Communist Prime Minister’s wife “Aunt Zhang”. Shen wrote that their transaction has never been recorded, but Aunt Zhang obtained 30% of the shares in the project facilitated by her.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Shen Dong stated that Wen Jiabao had no knowledge of Zhang Peili’s business, nor did he secretly provide support, and Wen Jiabao was angry at the media’s disclosure of his relatives’ property and the scale of business activities in 2012.

In 2013, Zhang Peili told Duan Weihong and Shen Dong that she and her children had turned over their assets to the state in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

In addition, Shen also detailed the private meetings and conversations between Duan Weihong and the top political leaders of the CCP at the time, including Wang Qishan, Xi Jinping, and Xi’s wife Peng Liyuan. Uploaded online, the book also includes contacts with Jiang Zemin, Zeng Qinghong, and Ling Jihua.

The self-introduction of “Red Roulette” is to tell the inside story of wealth, power, corruption and revenge in China today. Starting in the mid-1990s, Shen Dong saw the “golden age” of Chinese entrepreneurs and the disappearance of this era.

Shen said, “Deng Xiaoping started economic reforms in 1978 not because he believed in private entrepreneurship, but because the country went bankrupt. “In order to save the country, the party must allow private ownership and entrepreneurship to flourish.” “They have never changed. , This is a stopgap measure. “Only in times of crisis will the party relax its control.”

The book also mentions that Xi Jinping, who came to power in 2012, used the anti-corruption campaign to increase his prestige and play a role in consolidating the dominance of the party’s “princelings” who were born in families that participated in the communist revolution. Xi is a member of this “red nobility.” His father, Xi Zhongxun, is a senior party and government official under Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.

Shen said, “The red nobility will always enjoy privileges.” “They go to different kindergartens and schools since they were young, and live in different yards…. This is how this system has always worked and structure. If you have no connection with China’s political power, you will never do anything. meaningful thing.”

Shen was born in Shanghai, but moved to Hong Kong when he was a child and then went to university in the United States.

“It is the responsibility to tell the world what China (the CCP) is”

Hong Kong’s anti-transmission movement in the summer of 2019 is also a reason for Shen Dong to come out. He said: “If Hong Kong people are willing to sacrifice so much to defend their freedom, maybe I can also take a small step.”

Mr. Shen flew to Hong Kong in the summer of 2019 to participate in a large-scale anti-transmission protest movement; in November of that year, he returned to Hong Kong to vote in the district council elections.

He said: “I have a responsibility to tell the world what China is, especially in today’s environment. The coronavirus pandemic spread from China and changed everyone’s life, killing our loved ones, and shutting down the ones we used to patronize. Corporate.

“Everyone has a responsibility to better understand the country that brought us these (disasters), and this country is likely to bring another impact in our life.”

Shen Dong has never entered China since Duan disappeared. He told the Financial Times: “If I go in, I can’t get out.”
