Railways Prepare for 2024 Spring Festival Transport with Increase in Security Measures
The 2024 Spring Festival Transport is set to commence on January 26 and conclude on March 5, with railways across the country expected to carry a record-breaking 480 million passengers. This translates to an average of 12 million passengers per day, marking a substantial 37.9% increase compared to the 2023 Spring Festival Transport.
In light of the anticipated surge in travel, the Railway Public Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security has mobilized railway public security agencies at all levels to prioritize crucial tasks such as safeguarding national security, combating illegal activities, providing assistance to passengers, and ensuring railway safety.
As part of these efforts, railway public security agencies have been instructed to bolster order maintenance, enhance public security control, proactively address conflicts and disputes among passengers, and maximize the utilization of police resources. Additionally, authorities are tasked with conducting thorough supervision and inspection in accordance with existing laws and regulations, while encouraging railway enterprises to bolster security measures, promptly address potential hazards, and continuously upgrade security systems.
In line with the special action plan of “three strikes and three preventions”, authorities have been directed to crack down on various forms of illegal and criminal activities with a zero-tolerance stance. The focus will be on “solving small cases, eliminating small troubles, and controlling small chaos” in a concerted effort to ensure the safety of the personal and property of all travelers.
With these security measures in place, the aim is to not only manage the influx of passengers during the Spring Festival Transport but also to provide a safe and secure travel experience for all.
Reported by CCTV journalist Guo Peng, the heightened security measures are expected to ease concerns and reassure the public as they prepare for the upcoming festival travel period.
