The Attorney General’s Office extended the suspension of Minister Álvaro Leyva Durán for three months – news

The chancellor had initially been suspended on January 24 for the same period of time.

The Attorney General’s Office extended the provisional suspension of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Álvaro Leyva Durándue to the alleged irregularities that occurred in the process to the passport tender.

The chancellor had been suspended on January 24 for the same period of time for, apparently, incurring two disciplinary offenses, provisionally classified as very serious crimes committed by way of fraud, the first by declaring tender 001 of 2023 void without having the factual, legal and technical foundations, which could violate the principles that govern state contracting; the second, for declaring manifest urgency without supposedly existing grounds to adopt that determination.

In that sense, the Public ministry considered that the conditions existing on the date on which ordered the measure have not disappeared, reason by which if the disciplined person is reinstated to the position there could be the reiteration of the missing in the current bidding process.

The control body, which advances the disciplinary trial, added that so far no evidence has been provided that allow the required procedural assumptions to be distorted, which is why it confirmed that this decision will be extended until next July 24, 2024.

Likewise, it was determined that if reintegrated Leyva Durán would activate the possibility of him interfering in a harmful way in the process that is currently taking place, given the authority that it has over the public servants who were summoned as witnesses.
