The Attorney General’s Office has announced that it issued a charge sheet against the former Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez Torres, for alleged improper use of influence. According to the Disciplinary Instruction Chamber, Vélez would have tried to facilitate the departure of his minor children from the country, accompanied by their father, without the required permission from Migration Colombia.
The disciplinary process is based on the suspicion that the former minister managed the children’s departure process through a phone call and sending an email, avoiding the regular procedure. The Attorney General’s Office considers that these actions could constitute a serious offense, violating ethical and legal principles.
