The Women’s Forum for Women and Children organized this Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in Lomé, for the third time in a row, its meeting called “Gender Café”. At the end of this meeting, the Cluster of Feminist Organizations of Togo (GOFT) was presented to the participants.
Created on November 30, 2023 in Lomé, the Cluster of Feminist Organizations of Togo (GOFT), is an innovative framework that Togolese civil society has adopted to pursue, in a more inclusive and structured manner, the promotion of equity and equality of gender, the fight against gender-based violence.
It brings together umbrella groups and networks of feminist organizations in Togo for a synergy of actions in order to fight even more effectively for the promotion of gender equity and equality, and contribute to the eradication of gender-based violence.
According to Ms. KABISSA-LAMBONI Confort, President of the GOFT National Office, this synergy of actions represents much more than a simple initiative.
“It embodies a strong commitment to closer, more effective and more harmonious collaboration between the different entities working to promote gender equality and protect the rights of women, girls and children in Togo. The Cluster of Feminist Organizations of Togo (GOFT) aspires to become the privileged place where solid links are forged between the various networks, umbrella of the country’s feminist organizations. It will be the framework conducive to the consolidation of a common voice, the exchange of expertise, and the collective definition of actions to be undertaken to overcome the challenges we face. We are convinced that concerted actions can bring significant changes and accelerate the achievement of our objectives,” said Ms. KABISSA-LAMBONI Confort, President of the GOFT National Office.
The objectives assigned to the GOFT, she underlines, are among others, to bring together actors committed to gender equality and the fight against GBV in Togo in a recognized framework, capable of responding in a coordinated manner to related questions. to these themes; initiate actions to fight for respect for the rights of women, girls and children (advocacy, negotiations, etc.); popularize legislative and legal texts on the rights of women, girls and children.
Ms. KABISSA-LAMBONI Confort also indicated that the GOFT, as a framework for exchange, will also be the conducive ground for intensifying dialogue with the Togolese State. » We want to create a space where the specific concerns of CSOs working for the rights of women and girls are heard and taken into account in the development of policies and programs. By strengthening this dialogue, we aspire to contribute constructively to decision-making processes that directly impact the lives of women and girls in Togo,” said the President of the GOFT National Office.
The GOFT also wishes to be a synergy of action which will be an essential interface to strengthen exchanges with Technical and Financial Partners.
