From the Executive Directorate of the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies – ANATO, Eje Cafetero chapter, they highlight the constant increase in the flow of travelers who choose this area of ​​the country as a tourist destination. Likewise, in the final stretch of the holiday season, the Travel Agency sector has high expectations, especially after a challenging year marked by the pandemic and additional costs, such as the closure of important low-cost airlines, which affected the flow of travelers in the region.

Currently, the Coffee Axis is one of the three regions preferred by tourists. Alejandra Ramírez Girón, executive director of ANATO Eje Cafetero, shared that the combination of the post-holiday season and the holiday at the beginning of 2024 predict a constant flow of tourists: “Between January and October, 24.2 million passengers have traveled on domestic flights, which if Well, it is 12% below the same period in 2022, they have still been recovering. Our travel agencies are now going out of season until this holiday weekend and may be between 70% operational.”

In terms of challenges for the year, Ramírez expressed that they are based, for the most part, on continuing to position the main tourist attractions of the Coffee Triangle: “I think it is very important that governments support businessmen a little more, who suddenly The Secretariats can have a little more budget so that there is much more national and international promotion and more training. Meeting tourism
One of the challenges facing this sector is related to seasonal fluctuations and the decrease in tourist flow, especially in the first months of the year. Faced with this situation, the executive director has highlighted the need to strengthen tourism alternatives, focusing on segments such as meeting tourism: “Here we are working very hard on meeting tourism, which allows us to make it not so much tourism.” seasonal. ANATO 2024 Showcase
It is expected that from February 28 to March 1, the 43rd version of the ANATO Tourist Showcase will be held, under the motto “Colombia, open to the world”, from Corferias in Bogotá. More than a thousand exhibitors are expected to attend, as well as the presence of the 32 invited departments and countries.

National tourism
In 2024, Colombia will participate again in Fitur, the prominent tourism fair in Madrid, with a delegation of around 40 companies accompanied by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and ProColombia. The purpose on this occasion is to highlight the country’s tourism offer, emphasizing the sustainability and development of its six tourist regions under the narrative ‘Colombia, the country of beauty’. During the event, which will take place from January 24 to 28, Colombia will offer an innovative experience at its stand.
