THE DAYS OF LIGHT 10 – The jury announced

The jury and the poster of the tenth edition of the Days of Light in Spilimbergo, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, have been announced, which will take place from 1 to 9 June 2024. The festival, conceived by Gloria De Antoni and directed by her with Donato Guerra, is a an unmissable event in the Italian festival scene which for years has celebrated the authors of photography, the true protagonists of the event, with screenings, master classes, debates, exhibitions and tributes. The 2024 jury, which will award the Il Quarzo di Spilimbergo-Light Award to the best photography of an Italian film of the latest season, will be led by Monica Guerritore, internationally renowned interpreter, with her on the jury being Luan Ujkaj Amelio, author of photography nominated for the David di Donatello and the Nastri d�argento with Hammamet and The Lord of the Ants. With Paolo Sorrentino he shot Four Easy Pieces, based on the play of the same name by Mattia Torre. On the jury, with them, Gianni Fiorito, who has worked as a photojournalist since 1980 with particular attention to the complex Neapolitan and southern Italian reality, documenting, among other things, for the major national and international newspapers, the Camorra phenomenon and the “widespread illegality. He has worked as a still photographer with among others Paolo Sorrentino, John Turturro, Antonio Capuano, Francesca Comencini, Pappi Corsicato, Daniele Luchetti, Leonardo Di Costanzo, Ferzan Ozpeteck, Roberta Torre and Terrence Malick. Completing the jury is Mateja Zorn, producer and head of program and strategic projects at Kinoatelje. Creator and promoter of cultural events, director of the cross-border film festival Poklon viziji/Homage to a vision. Also on the jury is the film critic journalist and television author Oreste De Fornari, author of essays, among others, on Walt Disney, Truffaut, Sergio Leone. The poster for this year’s festival has also been made known, created as usual, starting from a scene photo taken, in this case by Claudio Iannone for the film Battlefield by Gianni Amelio. Among the locations in Friuli Venezia Giulia that hosted the set of the film are Udine, Tolmezzo, Venzone, Cormons and Gorizia. The Days of Light are organized by the Cultural Association Il Circolo di Spilimbergo and in 2023 they had the support of MiC, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the City of Spilimbergo, the Friuli Foundation.
