Yesterday, January 21, rescue teams rescued the body of Edinson Osorio Ríos, a native of Necoclí, in the sector known as El 17, Las Toldas, on the Quibdó-La Manza road.
The results of the tragedy due to the collapse on January 12 are 40 dead, 22 survivors and one person still missing.
The rescue work is nearing completion and the damage assessment and planning for road improvement are beginning.
Technicians and specialists from the National Highway Institute traveled to the affected area to evaluate the critical points of the Quibdó-Medellín highway, the type of slope intervention and its cost. This intervention seeks to determine the prioritization of the 500,000 million pesos announced by the national government to improve the corridor, especially in slope stabilization, and complete the paving of 10 pending kilometers.
Mercedes Gómez Villamarín, director of Invías, reported that some equipment such as rain gauges and level sensors will be installed to determine the amount of rain and detect water accumulation, which can affect the stability of the slopes and caused the landslides on January 12 at kilometer 42 of the road.
