The Ministry of Education Launches Pilot Project for National Smart Education Platform

In a move to expand and improve basic education through digitalization, the Ministry of Education has launched a full-scale application pilot project for the national smart education platform for primary and secondary schools. This initiative is part of the ongoing national digital strategic action, now in its third year, focused on “expanding and improving quality” of digital education.

The pilot project aims to enhance educational reform and innovation by integrating high-quality resources from all platforms and levels. The focus is on promoting three major tasks: implementing in-depth application pilot projects in Guangdong and Hainan, creating smart education demonstration zones in these regions to aid in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port; conducting pilot projects in ethnic minority areas in the central and western regions to strengthen the digital foundation for education in these regions; and promoting the sharing of high-quality digital resources in eastern regions to expand the supply of educational resources.

By working collaboratively with ministries and provinces, the goal is to establish a new teaching paradigm by 2025 with artificial intelligence applications and scale effects. The implementation of a management system and guarantee mechanism, along with the deepening application of new models and methods, will enable the co-construction and sharing of high-quality resources on a larger scale.

Overall, the pilot project for the national smart education platform signifies a significant step towards leveraging digitalization to enhance the quality and availability of educational resources for teachers and students nationwide.
