Kazakhistan’caused by melting snow and rain in March floods continues its effect. According to the statement made by the Ministry of Emergencies of Kazakhstan, 36 thousand 593 children have died in the flood-affected areas so far. 99 thousand 920 people were evacuated. While 6 thousand 566 people, including 3 thousand 194 children, were placed in temporary accommodation centers, 10 thousand 15 people returned to their homes. 98 thousand 106 farm animals were moved from flood areas to safe places. 3,563 houses were flooded in Akmola, Aktobe, Atyrau, Kostanay and Northern and Eastern Kazakhstan regions.
While the efforts to eliminate the consequences of the flood and evacuate people were carried out by 34 thousand 272 people, 3 thousand 790 vehicles and 17 helicopters, 9 million 89 thousand cubic meters of snow water were pumped from the flooded areas and water was cleaned from 3 thousand 52 houses.
On the other hand, Kazakhstan President Kasım Cömert Tokayev, in his speech at the coordination headquarters meeting, stated that there was no new flood situation in Aktobe, Kostanay, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Abay and Ulytau regions. Tokayev added that there is a possibility of a second flood wave in Atyrau, Western and Eastern Kazakhstan, Akmola and Northern Kazakhstan regions.
