On the bridge that connects Aosta and the Envers, 7 million vehicles pass each year
CHARVENSOD. The “Pont Suaz” bridge over the Dora Baltea which connects Aosta and the Envers area becomes the property of the Region. The change was approved today by the Aosta Valley government.
The structure, built in 1861 and modernized almost 40 years ago, has so far been managed by the Municipalities of Aosta, Aymavilles, Brissogne, Charvensod, Cogne, Gressan, Jovençan and Pollein. With the acquisition by the regional administration, management will be simpler and, above all, the Region will be directly responsible for the maintenance and any necessary work.
The bridge will become a section of the regional road 18 leading to Pila.
“The acquisition of the Pont Suaz to the regional heritage – explains the regional councilor for finance Carlo Marzi – is a handover between administrations that I would define historical, considering that the constitution of the consortium formed by the Municipalities of Envers for the reconstruction dates back to 1858 of the bridge over the Dora Baltea connecting with the regional capital “.
“We considered it important to satisfy the request made by the municipal administrations – continues Marzi -, given the importance that the Pont Suaz has assumed in the viable context, a crossroads of three regional roads with an annual transit of about seven million vehicles”.
