The former mayor of Bogotá, Claudia Lopez, has been summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office for interrogation in relation to the alleged irregular financing of the campaign of Angélica Lozano, senator of the Green Party and wife of López. The appointment is scheduled for next Thursday, May 16.
This after Semana Magazine released a file from the Prosecutor’s Office that suggests that the Bogotá Metro project was used to collect bribes of up to 12 billion pesos intended to finance campaigns for the Senate of the Green Party, including that of Angélica Lush.
However, this Semana investigation leaves several questions. Something that was analyzed by La Silla Vacía, a medium that pointed out that the publication of said medium presented some gaps and unclear points, arguing that the sources have not been corroborated as reliable, and lacks solid evidence to support the existence of bribes.
Furthermore, the file belongs to a preliminary, non-formal investigation, and the information has not been compared with relevant sources. It is important to highlight that the alleged audios that would support these accusations have not been published, nor have the people involved been consulted, including Claudia López, Angélica Lozano, the Mayor’s Office and her Metro Company.
