The Second Session of the 14th Provincial People’s Congress Opens Grandly at Fujian Hall
On the morning of January 23, the second session of the 14th Provincial People’s Congress opened grandly at the Fujian Hall. Representatives of the Provincial People’s Congress from all parts of the province walked into the Fujian Hall with high spirits and firm steps. The conference was presided over by Zhou Zuyi, executive chairman and standing chairman of the presidium.
The conference began with the majestic national anthem, and it was attended by several high-ranking officials including Governor Zhao Long, leaders of the Eastern Theater Command, chairman of the provincial CPPCC, and provincial leaders. The 14th Provincial People’s Congress actually had 556 representatives and 541 people attended the meeting, which met the quorum.
During the conference, Provincial Governor Zhao Long made a government work report to the conference on behalf of the Provincial People’s Government. He highlighted that the province’s GDP has seen an increase of 4.5%, and the total general public budget revenue has increased by 9.8%. Zhao Long also outlined the main tasks and expected goals for economic and social development this year, which includes achieving a regional GDP growth of about 5.5%.
In his closing remarks, Zhao Long emphasized the importance of promoting high-quality development and striving to achieve Chinese-style modernization. He highlighted the need to strengthen the construction of an ecological province, improve people’s livelihood, and ensure overall social stability.
The conference also reviewed the report on the implementation of Fujian Province’s 2023 National Economic and Social Development Plan and the 2024 Draft National Economic and Social Development Plan, as well as the 2023 budget and the 2024 budget draft report.
The meeting was attended by several provincial leaders, members of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and other responsible comrades of relevant provincial and central units in Fujian.
