In the last academic year, enrollments fell by more than half. Expected new teachers and lectures and some more motor activities

IVREA

This is a period of great commitment for Anna Marta, president of the People’s University of the Third Age and Permanent Education of Ivrea, and for her closest collaborators on the board, who are working even harder than usual not to be unprepared for what they hope will be the complete and definitive resumption of all activities next October.

«We are working to try to be able to restart for that period – explains the president – hoping that there are no other problems. People who were enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic year will automatically be enrolled for the 2021-2022 academic year as well, obviously without having to pay any fees, as well as for the courses they had already enrolled in. This will not apply to those who have taken the online courses. We will keep all the courses of last year and we will increase them, indeed, with what new conference and some more motor activities. Instead, we had to find some new teachers, as some of our teachers reported that they could not continue teaching: they are talented teachers who will not fail to be appreciated ».

And he adds: “The hope is that people are no longer afraid of coming to enroll, as occurred last year when, due to the pandemic, enrollments dropped dramatically, from 1,300 in 2019-2020 to 540 in 2020-2021. Vaccinations and the now assimilated rules of compliance with the anticovid norms should make the return to the habits of the past more serene, without being influenced by variants of any kind ».

The last academic year was immediately problematic: despite the drastic reduction in students, the courses started regularly, in their respective locations, but, a few weeks after the beginning there was another lockdown and the courses, where possible, were transferred online, what, by the way, never done before. Subscribers were able to remotely follow several lessons, but it was not easy and many admitted that they were unable to move easily online. It was decided, then, to declare the academic year closed, what the Uni3 board hopes will not happen again. Anna Marta is also keen to remember that directors, arbitrators and auditors are about to expire and that, therefore, anyone willing to apply and seriously commit will only have to propose. The elections will be held on September 16 next, on the occasion of the annual shareholders’ meeting. –
