The Civil Aviation Administration of China is making significant strides in promoting the development of the low-altitude economy, which includes general aviation and drone industries. According to Sun Wensheng, deputy director of the General Department of the Civil Aviation Administration, the industry has seen positive results in recent years with the establishment of 690 registered general aviation companies operating 2,900 aircraft, and 1.267 million domestically registered drones in operation by the end of 2023.

The Chinese government has recognized the importance of the low-altitude economy and has incorporated it into various development plans and policies. With the issuance of regulations and standards for the management of unmanned aircraft flights and the emphasis on reducing logistics costs through the development of new logistics models, including the low-altitude economy, the industry is expected to see further growth.

Luo Hongjiang, deputy director of the Air Traffic Control Industry Management Office of the Civil Aviation Administration, highlighted the continuous improvement of the low-altitude flight service support system, which includes the establishment of regulations and standards, the construction of a three-level flight service support system, and the enhancement of service capabilities. The goal is to integrate manned and unmanned aircraft into the national airspace system safely and efficiently.

Shang Kejia, deputy director of the Transportation Department of the Civil Aviation Administration, emphasized the importance of the general aviation industry as an engine for the development of the low-altitude economy. With the implementation of pilot projects in various fields, the industry has achieved rapid growth, including the operation of 690 registered general aviation companies, 2,900 aircraft, and 1.267 million registered drones across the country.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China is committed to further improving the infrastructure, airworthiness certification capabilities, safety supervision system, and general airport construction to support the growth of the low-altitude economy. With a focus on enhancing the low-altitude flight service guarantee system, promoting the development of general aviation, and creating a new situation in the industry, the future looks bright for the low-altitude economy in China.
