They report mistreatment of a horse: its owner hits it even though it is tired

An unfortunate case of animal abuse in the Los Fundadores neighborhood of Valledupar was recorded on amateur video. In the clip, a horse that is used illegally to transport a wheelbarrow was attacked by the person who was directing it.

The subject takes the pita that was tied to the horse and pulls the material in an attempt to force the animal to walk in the sun.

Seeing that the horse was resisting, the man took one of the branches that were in the wheelbarrow and smashed it against the animal’s head, causing the branch to break. The horse moves its head from side to side and remains standing where it was, in an apparent sign of fatigue, while the man continues pulling the pita.

Internet users have asked that these types of cases not go unpunished and that the authorities be diligent to put an end to the use of animal-drawn vehicles. One of those was Councilman Manolo Fernández, who tagged the Secretary of Government, Jorge Pérez, to attend to the case and take joint actions.

Valledupar has an animal welfare center created for these cases. The last administration built it and gave it under concession so that it could be operated by a private party.

The entry They report mistreatment of a horse: its owner hits it even though it is tired was published first in El Pilón | News from Valledupar, El Vallenato and the Colombian Caribbean.
