Third dose: only 30% of vaccinables covered, but in Piedmont it reaches 50%

by admin

The third doses in Italy are struggling. Although in recent days they have been growing – between 70 and 90 thousand a day – so far the vaccinable audience that has been reached by the new vaccination is about 30 percent (just 3 percent of the total population). We are talking about 1.8 million administrations between the additional dose for “immunocompromised” people and the “booster” dose for over 60, guests of the Rsa, health workers and people with high frailty. The latter is reserved only for those who have completed the vaccination cycle for at least six months.

In the first places Molise, Piedmont and Umbria

If we look at the regional breakdown, however, significant territorial differences emerge. Even more pronounced than the first and second administration. According to the data processed by Lab24, in fact, on the front of “standard” vaccination at the top are Tuscany (86.8% of the population over 12 immunized), Lazio (86.4%) and Emilia-Romagna (86, 1%), the podium changes completely if we analyze the third doses. Compared to a current national average of 29.8%, Molise (68.8), Piedmont (53.9%) and Umbria (46.6%) stand out. Tuscany is fourth at 43.2%, while Emilia-Romagna is further behind, just above the national average (31.2%).

The regions further back

Lazio (29.4%) and Lombardy (29.1%) are slightly below the average. At the bottom of the ranking Valle d’Aosta (10.8%), Basilicata (10.9%) and Calabria (11.2%).

Online reservations

The web is the main gateway for most regions to book for the third dose of the anti-Covid vaccine. And the Regions – after the start of the recall for the first categories such as the frail patients, the over 60 and healthcare workers – are now preparing to broaden access, in this new phase of the vaccination campaign, to the recall for those who have been vaccinated. with J&J and also to the 50-year-olds and to the teachers, according to the hypothesis announced by the Undersecretary of Health Andrea Costa who considers it possible to take place by the end of the year.

Differences on the territory

Already in recent days, the vaccination centers have begun to work on the organizational plan to vaccinate those who had chosen J&J and with the announcement of the AIFA of the go-ahead for the booster dose, the departments are beginning to give directions to reach about one and a half million of people, largely using the model already applied. At the moment there is a great lack of homogeneity among the regions: few have activated the direct call and only one (Lazio) foresees the involvement of family doctors for this purpose. But there is no lack of new and original methods for reserving the vaccine: not only through the Cup and pharmacy but also with the postman or the PostaMat counter, which open up innovative scenarios for citizens’ access to services, even if the Figliuolo commissioner structure it is always ready to reopen the hubs already closed should there be a need.
