The Formula 1 Madrid Grand Prix, which will be held between 2026 and 2035, will have a hybrid circuit that will run through both the Valdebebas sports city and the Ifema fairgrounds.
The finish line will be established on the road that is located in front of the main entrance of Ifema. The pitlane will be built next to the pavilions and the paddock inside them.
The first curve of the circuit will be to the right and will coincide with one of the exits from the side parking lot on the way to the Dublin Road, parallel to the M-40. Next, the cars will face a new straight until they reach a bank that is reminiscent of other circuits such as Indianapolis.
From then on, the cars will enter the Valdebebas tunnel to reach the Real Madrid sports city. Once there, and after overcoming a series of curves, the cars will return to the fairgrounds through a second tunnel.
The circuit will have a length of 5,474 meters and will be completed in a time of 1:32:026.
Overtaking points
Circuit organizers expect there to be up to four key points to overtake. These are:
• The start: the first right-hand corner will be a key point for drivers who want to overtake from pole position or from the front row.
• The banking: the banking of the first section of the circuit could offer overtaking opportunities to drivers who are faster in this type of corners.
• The Valdebebas tunnel: the tunnel that will connect IFEMA with Valdebebas could be a dangerous overtaking point, since cars will have to slow down to enter it.
• The last corner: The last right-hand corner before the final straight could offer overtaking opportunities to drivers who are faster in these types of corners.
The future of F1 in Spain
The F1 Madrid GP will be added to the Barcelona GP, which will be held at the Circuit de Catalunya until 2026. If the contract with Barcelona is not renewed, the Madrid GP will become the only one held in Spain .
